NEED
With dozens upon dozens of student events throughout the year, the college required cohesive event designs retrofitted across a variety of horizontal and vertical formats including kiosks, HDTV displays, print advertising and social media to engage students and drive turn-outs.
APPROACH
At a core level, the original brand guidelines of the college limited the appearance of event materials to look nearly identical. This approach offered no visual differentiation resulting in a sterile unengaging aesthetic that did not serve event engagement well. Challenging traditional thinking, I proposed a new visual strategy for campus events. While all events begin merely with a few sentences of text including event name, date, time and location, I now take an empathetic approach to each event considering audiences and popular culture influences over each subject matter to engage students on campus. I work to develop uniquely themed visuals, to a varietal extent the visual engagement one might experience browsing through movie thumbnails on something like Amazon Prime, to create a strong new level of appeal and differentiation while incorporating college branding.
RESULT
College events experienced heightened awareness with diverse event visuals resulting in stronger engagement and record turn-outs.
